  1. Live Test

Full testing began on 20 August 2026 with 43 participating companies, which the FSA describes as 43 regional and other banks. No results or real-value transfers have been published.

    Evidence: dcjpy.com, fsa.go.jp

What was announced

On 3 April 2026 the Financial Services Agency (FSA) took on, as the third case in its Payment Innovation Project and the 14th in its FinTech Proof-of-Concept Hub, a test by DeCurret DCP, GMO Aozora Net Bank and ABeam Consulting. When customers of different banks send each other tokenised deposits, the banks must settle between themselves. The test checks two ways to do that: deposit accounts the banks open with each other, and a stablecoin. It runs from April 2026 for the time being, and the FSA said it would publish the compliance and legal points found. DeCurret DCP is the lead applicant, GMO Aozora Net Bank the representative bank and ABeam the secretariat.

How it works

The test uses the DCJPY network, on which GMO Aozora Net Bank already issues tokenised deposits. DCP says the aim is that transfers between users on chain should also settle between banks on chain. The FSA’s 30 September 2026 briefing paper describes the methods tested as accounts banks hold with each other and linking tokenised deposit transfers to stablecoin transfers between banks. A Digital Currency Forum report gives Hyperledger Besu as the network’s planned ledger, so ledger is private-evm. Participating banks give views on the hypotheses tested, so access is whitelisted, and the test runs with FSA support, so legal is sandbox.

Record so far

On 26 August 2026 DCP, GMO Aozora Net Bank and ABeam said 43 companies had joined and that participants met on 20 August to begin full testing. The named participants include Shoko Chukin Bank, Resona Holdings, Tokyo Kiraboshi Financial Group, Fukuoka Financial Group, Hachijuni Nagano Bank and others; some take part as observers. The FSA counts the participants as 43 regional and other banks. No results have been published.

What to watch

The FSA’s published findings, a first interbank settlement with real value, and whether any participant bank begins issuing DCJPY.
